Freestyle disc is an extended form of catch and throw that involves performing certain athletic and artistic maneuvers with the disc. The basic maneuvers include tipping, rolling, and brushing, but the distinguishing characteristic of modern freestyle is the nail delay. The nail delay involves spinning the disc on top of the finger nail to keep the disc on a flat plane to begin basic freestyle tricks. The disc can then be moved toward the rim for a basic rim delay or any other kind of trick like rolls, brushes, turnovers, and more.
